Bio:           Victor Evan Travis

Victor Travis (16) is a graduate of St. Gregory the Great School (South Euclid, Ohio) and is currently in his junior year at Innisdale Secondary School in Barrie, Ontario.  He has been competitively figure skating for 9 years.  Victor began skating at 4 years old in the Cleveland Heights Learn-to-Skate program.  His goal was to play hockey.  After three rough and tumble years as a hockey player, he found his true love as a figure skater.  At 9 years old, Victor was a featured performer during the televised “Holiday on Ice” program, which commemorated the opening of the Scott Hamilton Ice Rink in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.  In February 2001, he skated in the Cleveland production of “Stars on Ice” where he represented a young Scott Hamilton.  Victor is the 2002 US Junior National Silver Medalist in Juvenile Boys.  He subsequently qualified for the 2003 and 2005 US Junior National Figure Skating Championships where he placed 13th and 15th at the intermediate men’s level.  In June 2005, Victor with his parents support made the difficult decision to move to Barrie, Ontario where he currently trains at the Mariposa School of Skating and is coached by Michelle and Doug Leigh.  He also continues to work with his local coach, Glyn Watts.
Victor took the 2005-2006 competitive season off to concentrate on training.  He resumed competing in the 2006-2007 season at the Novice level.  Victor’s hard work and sacrifice has paid off.  He will represent the Pavilion Skating Club of Cleveland Heights at the United States Figure Skating National Championships in Spokane, Washington January 21-28, 2007.  This will be Victor’s first trip to senior nationals. Victor qualified for Nationals by placing 1st at the 2007 Eastern Great Lakes Regional Championships and 3rd at the 2007 Midwestern Sectional Championships in the Novice Men’s event.  Victor is the son of Tanya and James Travis who reside in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
